In the course of a career in real estate development spanning over 25 years, Darrell Bolognesi has been responsible for the negotiation, design, entitlement and approval of projects valued in excess of $6 Billion. Working in the Senior Divisional Management of some of the most respected builders in America, Darrell has been instrumental in the creation of thousands of apartments, townhomes and condominiums as well as in the design and entitlement of mixed-use properties located in more than 30 governmental jurisdictions. Trained as an Urban Planner at UC Berkeley and with experience in both the Public and Private sectors, Darrell is one of the few Planning professionals in the Western United States to have in-depth knowledge and expertise in multiple Marketplaces. As such, he has worked successfully in political environments as diverse as California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Washington and Minnesota. His familiarity with the unique challenges faced by small urban infill projects and large Master Planned Communities as well as his ability to forge long-lasting relationships of trust with key project stakeholders have made him among the leading Planning experts in the industry and one of New Albion’s most valued Team Members.
At New Albion Group, Darrell serves as Executive Vice President of Community Development. His responsibilities include all aspects of project planning, processing & design, governmental & neighborhood outreach, environmental impact assessment, feasibility analysis, demographic & marketing studies, financial projections, regional economic forecasts, and the management of project architects, engineers and legal staff. Darrell is also responsible for representing the Company before City Councils, Building Department Staff, Planning Commissions, County Boards of Supervisors, Environmental Advocacy Groups, Neighborhood residents and all local, regional, state & federal agencies.
Darrell earned his B.Sc in Urban Planning & Development at the University of California, Berkeley and his MPA in Management & Planning at California State University, East Bay. He has served as a Planning Commissioner on the El Sobrante Planning Commission, Assistant Planning Director of the City of Mill Valley, a Member of the Contra Costa County Parks and Recreation Commission, and the President of the Town of Crockett Business and Improvement Association
