Mike Anderson
vice President – Commercial Real Estate Division
Before his entry into Residential and Commercial development, Michael Anderson was a partner in the real estate practice of Ware & Freidenrich in Palo Alto, California. In 1992 he left the practice of law to become the President of Sandhill Homes, a privately held real estate company that successfully developed over 1,500 residential lots in Northern California. Following his tenure as President of the firm, Mr. Anderson became the Director of Development for Sand Hill Property Company. In this new role, he was primarily responsible for the redevelopment of the Fashion Island Shopping Center in San Mateo, and the development of the Hilton Garden Inn in Cupertino. In 1998 Mr. Anderson became Chief Operating Officer of Mission West Properties, where he helped organize the IPO of the Real Estate Investment Trust formed by Carl Berg to meet the growing need for R&D and Office space in Silicon Valley. During this time, Mr. Anderson also served on the REIT’s Board of Directors. At its height, Mission West Properties operated over 80 research and development buildings in the Southern Bay Area, comprising more than 7,500,000 square feet of space.
Seeking to expand his field of operations into new markets, Mr. Anderson joined Aegis Realty Partners in 2000, and was in charge of directing the design and entitlement process of City Center North, a seven-story 530-space parking facility located in downtown Oakland. He also managed the Company’s largest project, which was the redevelopment of a 230-acre mixed-use project in American Canyon consisting of over 1,200 homes. For the last several years Mr. Anderson has managed his own investments in multiple limited liability companies that own and operate real estate throughout the Greater Bay Area. Mr. Anderson has recently completed the sale of a residential development in Sunnyvale, California, and is the Managing Member of an LLC developing land in Truckee, California.
In addition to the above, Mr. Anderson is an active volunteer in a number of local and national organizations. Most notably, Mr. Anderson has served on the Board of Directors of the Palo Alto Housing Corporation for 28 years – and has twice filled the role as its President. The Palo Alto Housing Corporation owns and manages over 700 rental units in Palo Alto that serve low and moderate income families. For many years, Mr. Anderson also served on the Non-Profit’s Development Committee, which directed the entitlement and construction of numerous apartment buildings aimed at the Affordable Marketplace.
At New Albion Group, Mr. Anderson oversees the Company’s Office and Retail operations. He holds a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and a J.D from Indiana University, Indianapolis.
